Do you want that luxurious, silky-smooth hair without the hassle of going to a professional, or paying luxury prices? Well, us at Salon 809 are telling you home is closer to a salon than you realize. At Salon 809, we pride ourselves on complete and total transparency. Caring is our job. Not caring for your time, or your money, but caring for your hair. And teaching you how to care for it too!
Now, one of the most frequent questions we ask clients at our salon is “Would you like to add a deep conditioner to that?” One might say yes without fully knowing what it entails. We’ll tell you straight up.
Why Should I Deep Condition?
A nourishing deep conditioner will help your hair in many ways, long and short-term. It adds moisture back into the hair, helping to soothe frizz, repair damage, and leave the hair looking and feeling soft and glossy. Deep conditioning is essential for preventing and combating hair breakage. Here’s a little secret: everyone’s hair is damaged. No matter how virgin or untouched your hair may be, damage is inflicting it one way or another. Through rigorous styling, hot tools, chemicals, sun exposure, and more. We know this feels overwhelming, but here’s what else we know: Deep conditioner can’t hurt you! Even if you think your hair is of the healthiest variety, you can only benefit from a nourishing deep condition. The hydrating and nurturing ingredients in a deep conditioner will do wonders for your hair, from making it look shinier and healthier, feel silkier and smoother, and simply become more manageable. No matter your hair type, it’s here to help.
How Often Should I Deep Condition?
Now that you’ve got the facts, you might be wondering, how often should I really be doing this?? We’re here to tell you. Every person has different deep conditioning needs. Some hair types are just fine getting away with twice a month. Though others, many of which we’re familiar with, may be deemed more appropriate for four times a month. This also depends on the amount of distress you put your hair under on a daily basis. Is it dyed? Frequently straightened? Heat damaged? Dry? You may be looking at a once or twice a week deep condition.
Expenses
Seeing as you just learned how frequent deep conditioning should be, your next question is likely the expenses. Not everyone can afford getting a salon specialist to treat their hair multiple times a week, and that’s okay. Whether the issue is money, time, or simply just convenience, us at Salon 809 are here to let you know, you can do it at home! Of course, coming in once or twice a month for a luxury service such as getting a deep conditioner and style is still on the books for many people. We’re just helping you
through the days it’s less attainable. For one bulk purchase of natural ingredients found at your local grocery store, you can make and store weeks’ worth of your very own nourishing deep conditioner!
Iingredients
Now that you have your straightforward background knowledge about deep conditioners and what they do, it’s imperative that you know what goes in them and what those ingredients are doing for your hair. We’ll list a few of the deep conditioning ingredients we love, along with the benefits below, so you can get the best idea of what to look for.
Solids
· Avocado – Contains healthy, nourishing fats. Helps restore hair using healthy fats and moisture, making hair supple, healthy, and resilient to damage.
· Banana – Improves manageability and shine, controls and prevents dandruff, and moisturizes scalp. Rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates, and vitamins, which aid in softening the hair and protecting the hair’s natural elasticity. Further preventing split ends and breakage.
· Egg (Yolk) – Nutrient-rich hair “superfood” Contains vitamins A, & E, biotin, and folate, to name a few. Keeps hair thick and healthy, and replenishes moisture, keeping hair looking & feeling sleek and shiny.
