Salon 809 – Terms & Conditions
By booking an appointment, purchasing products, or receiving services at Salon 809, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These policies are designed to protect your time, our team’s time, and the safety and comfort of everyone in the salon.
1. Appointment Policy
1.1 Scheduling & Availability
Appointments must be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance. We do not accept same-day appointments.
Booking 24+ hours in advance is strongly encouraged so we can better plan your service and timing.
Walk-ins are accepted based on stylist availability and service type. Some services, especially extensions and certain color services, cannot be done as walk-ins because they require extra prep and a consultation.
Clients with appointments are always prioritized and are generally served in the order of their scheduled time.
Walk-ins are serviced between scheduled appointments and in order of arrival.
1.2 Wait Time Disclaimer
Salon 809 is a high-volume, specialty salon focused on textured and high-density hair. While we work hard to honor all scheduled times, the services we provide can vary from client to client. As a result, you may experience a short wait even with an appointment.
Variables that can affect timing include (but are not limited to):
High hair density or extra-long hair that requires more time
Hair that is very tangled, matted, or requires extra treatments
Clients choosing to add services or upgrades at the time of their visit (e.g., treatments, trims, or add-on styles)
Because of these factors:
Some delays may occur, and we cannot guarantee exact start times, although we always work to minimize wait times.
We appreciate your patience, as we give each client’s hair the time and care it truly needs—the same attention we will give to you.
1.3 Specialty & Extension Services
All hair extension services (except clip-ins or glue-ins) require:
- A consultation,
- A non-refundable deposit ($80–$200, depending on the service), and
- A pre-scheduled appointment.
Select hair color services (such as intricate or corrective color) may also require a consultation and a non-refundable deposit.
Flexi-rod sets must be scheduled at least 2 hours before closing to ensure enough time to complete the service.
Hair is sold separately from extension services unless otherwise specified.
1.4 Deposits (Summary)
A non-refundable deposit is required for hair extension services, certain hair color services that require additional preparation time, and select special hairstyles or matted/heavily tangled hair appointments that require significant extra time. Your deposit secures your time slot and is applied to your service total when your appointment is completed in line with our policies below. See Section 3 for full details.
2. Service Pricing, Length & Density Adjustments
All service prices are based on time, product usage, hair length, and hair density.
Clients with longer, thicker, or higher-density hair may require additional time and product, which will result in additional charges.
These adjustments are applied in $10 increments according to our internal length and density levels.
Base prices shown on our menu or website reflect standard length and density. Final pricing may be adjusted once your stylist assesses your hair in person.
If you have questions about how your hair length or density may affect pricing, please ask during booking or consultation so our team can provide guidance.
3. Deposits & Cancellation Policy
At Salon 809, we value your time and the time our stylists reserve especially for you. To keep our schedule running smoothly and respect all of our guests, we have the following deposit and cancellation policies in place.
3.1 Appointment Deposits
We require deposits for hair extensions, certain hair color services, and select special hairstyle or matted/detangling appointments.
Hair Extensions:
A non-refundable deposit of $80–$200 is required to book all hair extension services, with the exact amount depending on the technique, length, and time required. The specific deposit amount will be communicated at booking.
This deposit secures your appointment and is applied toward your total service cost when you come in and complete your appointment according to our policies.
Hair Color Services (with deposit):
Certain color services (for example, intricate or corrective color) require a non-refundable color deposit, which will be applied toward your service total at the time of your appointment.
The exact deposit amount will be communicated at booking.
Special Hairstyles & Matted/Detangling Appointments:
Certain special hairstyles, or appointments involving significantly matted or tangled hair requiring extensive detangling time, may also require a non-refundable deposit. The exact deposit amount will be communicated at booking based on the time and work involved.
How deposits work:
Deposits are non-refundable, but they are used toward your service as long as the appointment is completed in line with our cancellation, rescheduling, and arrival policies.
If Salon 809 cancels or reschedules your appointment and you choose not to rebook, your deposit will be refunded, since you did not miss or cancel the appointment.
If you cancel late, reschedule late, arrive too late to be seen, or do not show up, your deposit may be forfeited, as outlined below.
Important: All outstanding deposits and fees must be paid before booking your next appointment or being serviced.
3.2 Standard Appointment Cancellations (No Deposit)
Standard appointments are services that do not require a deposit, such as many regular blowouts, basic treatments, and other non-extension, non-deposit color services.
You must cancel or reschedule standard appointments at least 24 hours in advance.
If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you No-Call/No-Show, a standard no-show fee will be added to your account. Standard no-show fee: $30 for regular appointments (blowouts, basic treatments, non-deposit services).
Where a card is on file, Salon 809 will charge this fee directly to that card whenever possible, in accordance with Section 4 (Payment & Card-on-File Authorization).
This no-show fee must be paid, whether charged automatically or collected at your next visit, prior to making another appointment or being serviced.
3.3 Hair Extension Cancellations (With Deposit – 48 Hours)
Hair extension services require significant prep time and dedicated stylist time, so stricter rules apply.
A deposit of $80–$200 is required to book all hair extension services, with the exact amount depending on the technique, length, and time required. This deposit is applied toward your total service cost when you come in and complete your appointment according to our policies.
If hair must be special-ordered for your appointment, the cost of that hair is charged upfront at the time of ordering, separate from your deposit. This charge is non-refundable, as it is a custom purchase made specifically for you.
You must cancel or reschedule extension appointments at least 48 hours in advance.
Clients are allowed up to two courtesy reschedules, provided at least 48 hours’ notice is given each time. Your deposit will transfer to the new appointment date. Reschedules due to documented illness or emergency, as outlined in Section 3.8, do not count toward this two-reschedule limit.
Any reschedule beyond the second courtesy reschedule will require a new deposit.
If you cancel, reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, arrive too late for us to complete the service, or No-Call/No-Show:
Your deposit will be forfeited.
The forfeited deposit serves as the no-show fee for extension appointments; no additional no-show fee will be charged on top of the forfeited deposit.
If Salon 809 cancels your extension appointment and you choose not to rebook, your deposit will be refunded.
3.4 Hair Color Cancellations (With Deposit – 48 Hours)
Certain hair color services (especially intricate, high-impact, or corrective color) require additional prep, product, and longer booking times.
For any hair color service that requires a deposit, you must cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance.
If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, arrive too late to be seen, or No-Call/No-Show:
Your color deposit will be forfeited.
The forfeited deposit serves as the no-show fee for these color appointments; no additional no-show fee will be charged on top of the forfeited deposit.
If Salon 809 cancels your color appointment and you choose not to rebook, your deposit will be refunded.
3.5 Holiday Cancellation Policy
During holiday periods and peak times, all policies are strictly enforced.
Standard (no-deposit) services: require at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a $30 no-show fee.
Extension and deposit color services: require at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid forfeiting the deposit.
No-Call/No-Show appointments during holiday periods will:
For deposit services: result in a forfeited deposit, which serves as the no-show fee (no additional fee is charged), and
For standard (no-deposit) services: result in the standard $30 no-show fee, which must be paid before future bookings.
Multiple no-shows or late cancellations, especially during holidays, may result in requiring deposits for all future appointments or limiting advance bookings.
3.6 Late Arrivals
To respect all guests and keep the schedule running smoothly:
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your appointment so you can check in, consult, and start on time.
If you arrive late, we will do our best to accommodate you; however:
We may need to shorten or modify your service while still charging the full or partial amount, or
If you are too late for us to reasonably complete the service, it may be treated as a late cancellation or no-show. For deposit-required services, this results in a forfeited deposit (which serves as the no-show fee). For standard, non-deposit services, the standard $30 no-show fee applies.
3.7 How to Cancel or Reschedule
You can cancel or reschedule by:
- Calling or texting the salon location where your appointment is booked (see Section 15 for location phone numbers), or
- Using our approved online booking system (when available), following the instructions in your confirmation email or text.
- Cancellations and rescheduling requests are considered effective once we receive your message, not when it is sent.
3.8 Illness & Emergencies
We understand that life happens.
If you are ill, contagious, or experiencing an emergency, please contact us as soon as possible.
At our discretion, we may adjust or waive fees or allow your deposit to be transferred to a future appointment.
4. Payment & Card-on-File Authorization
By booking an appointment at Salon 809, you agree to pay for all services and products received at the time of checkout.
For clients who have a card on file:
By providing your card information, you authorize Salon 809 to charge your card for:
Deposits required to secure appointments
Any applicable cancellation or no-show fees as outlined in our policies
Outstanding balances for services or products received if you leave the salon without completing payment at checkout
If a client leaves the premises without paying for services rendered or products received, Salon 809 reserves the right to process payment using the card on file for the full amount due.
5. 24-Hour Redo Policy
At Salon 809, we are committed to delivering high-quality results and making sure you leave feeling confident and satisfied. While we strive for perfection, we understand that adjustments may sometimes be needed. For that reason, we offer a 24-Hour Redo Policy under the guidelines below:
5.1 Eligibility for a Redo
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your service, you may be eligible for a style-only redo to adjust or refine your original look.
Redos are intended to correct or adjust the original service, not to change the style, color, or look to something completely different.
If a different or more extensive service is requested (for example, changing the color formula, adding extensions, or choosing a new style), additional charges will apply.
Redos are offered in place of refunds. We do not provide cash refunds for services (see Section 10 for full refund policy).
5.2 How to Submit a Redo Request
You must notify Salon 809 within 24 hours of the original service date and time.
You may contact us by phone, text, email, or in person to submit your request.
When you contact us, please:
Provide your full name, service date, and stylist (if known).
Explain what you are unhappy with and what you would like adjusted.
Include photos showing the concern. Photos are required to evaluate and process your redo request.
Requests made after the 24-hour window are not eligible for a complimentary redo.
5.3 Exceptions for Closed Days
If your 24-hour period falls on a Monday or a major holiday when the salon is closed, you may still contact us by text, email, or voicemail within that 24-hour period.
Once your request is reviewed and verified by management, we will schedule the next available appointment to honor the redo.
5.4 Scheduling & Expiry
All redo appointments are scheduled based on stylist and chair availability.
If we reach out to you to schedule a redo and you do not respond or are unable to come in within the offered time frames, the redo offer may expire at management’s discretion.
If no contact is made within 24 hours following your service, the redo policy becomes void and standard service charges will apply for any future changes.
6. Heat Styling Disclaimer & No Unauthorized Chemicals
At Salon 809, the health and integrity of your hair are our top priorities. Many of our services involve the use of professional heat tools, and it is important to understand how hair can respond to heat.
Every head of hair is unique. Factors such as texture, porosity, previous chemical services, at-home products, and overall hair health can affect how your hair responds to heat.
Some clients may experience temporary or, in rare cases, lasting changes in curl pattern or texture after repeated or intense heat styling, especially if the hair was already compromised before the service.
Our team uses professional techniques and high-quality heat protectants to help minimize heat exposure and protect your hair as much as possible.
We do not use any chemical straightening or relaxing products in our styling services unless they are specifically requested, clearly discussed, and paid for by the client as a chemical service.
6.1 No Unauthorized Chemicals
Salon 809 does not secretly add relaxers, texturizers, or any other chemical straightening agents to shampoos, conditioners, or styling products.
Any suggestion that we “sneak” chemicals into our services is false.
If you ever have questions about the products being used on your hair, please ask—our team is happy to show and explain each product.
6.2 False or Harmful Statements
We welcome honest feedback and are always open to resolving any concerns directly with you. However:
Making or spreading knowingly false statements about our services, products, or practices—especially claims that we secretly use chemicals without consent—can be harmful to our reputation and business.
We kindly ask that any concerns be brought to us first so we can address them professionally.
In serious cases involving deliberate, false, and damaging claims, Salon 809 reserves the right to protect the business, which may include seeking legal remedies where appropriate, in accordance with Section 14 (Governing Law).
6.3 Patch Test & Strand Test Disclaimer
Salon 809 performs strand tests prior to most chemical and color services to assess hair condition and predict processing results. Strand tests do not test for allergic reactions.
Clients who are new to chemical or color services at Salon 809, or who have never had a specific product used on them before, are strongly encouraged to request a patch test at least 48 hours prior to their appointment to check for allergic sensitivity. Patch tests are available upon request.
Salon 809 is not responsible for allergic reactions to products where a patch test was not requested or performed. Clients with known allergies or sensitivities must disclose this information prior to service.
7. Extension Services & Disclaimers
7.1 Extension Services Offered
Salon 809 specializes in a range of professional extension techniques designed to provide natural-looking, long-lasting results:
Brazilian Knots – A strand-by-strand method installed with elastic thread and no glue or heat for maximum flexibility and movement.
Microlinks
Weft Microlinks: A track of hair secured with silicone-lined beads for fullness and volume.
Single-Strand I-Tips: Individual strands applied with beads for a seamless blend and natural movement.
K-Tips (Keratin Tips) – Extensions bonded with small keratin tips and gentle heat for a lightweight, natural finish.
Tape-In Extensions – Thin, pre-taped wefts applied close to the scalp for a flat, flexible result.
Sew-In Extensions – The natural hair is braided and wefts are sewn onto the braids for secure, versatile wear.
7.2 Extension Services Disclaimer
Hair is sold separately, except for K-Tips, where the installation includes 100 grams of hair.
Extension hair can be purchased at Salon 809 or brought by the client (except for K-Tips, which must be purchased through the salon for quality and compatibility).
Salon 809 is not responsible for color mismatch, longevity, shedding, tangling, or overall results when clients bring their own hair.
For reference, one bundle equals approximately 3.5 ounces (about 100 grams).
All extension services (except clip-ins or glue-ins) require a consultation and a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit, in accordance with our Deposits & Cancellation Policy.
8. Color Services, Same-Day Color & Consultations
8.1 Same-Day Color Services
We offer same-day root touch-ups and full color services for walk-in clients based on stylist availability.
To be considered for same-day color, clients must arrive at least one hour before closing, as adequate time is required to safely perform and properly process color services.
Same-day color services are not guaranteed and are provided only when timing and staffing allow.
8.2 Consultation Required for Bleach-Based & Intricate Color Services
A pre-service consultation is required before booking the following services:
- Balayage
- Double process
- Color correction
- Highlights
During the consultation, your stylist will:
Discuss your desired look
Assess your hair’s current color, condition, and history
Determine realistic expectations, timing, and pricing
Plan the appropriate products, techniques, and number of sessions needed to achieve the best possible result
Some color goals may require multiple appointments to maintain the health and integrity of your hair.
8.3 Scheduling Recommendations for Multi-Step Color
For multi-step or intricate color services such as balayage, highlights, double-process color, and color corrections:
We highly recommend booking a morning appointment whenever possible.
These services require extended time and focused attention, and earlier start times help ensure we can complete your look without rushing and deliver the highest-quality result.
9. Minor Child Safety Policy
At Salon 809, the safety and comfort of our guests and staff are extremely important to us. Because we use professional tools, hot equipment, and chemical products throughout the salon, children must be supervised at all times by a parent or legal guardian (or another responsible adult designated by the parent/guardian).
9.1 Children Under 10
Children under the age of 10 must remain by the side of a parent or guardian at all times while inside the salon.
For safety reasons, we strongly discourage bringing children who are not receiving a service, as they may be exposed to hazardous equipment and busy work areas.
Our environment includes hot tools, sharp instruments, cords, chemicals, and wet floors, all of which can pose risks to unsupervised or active children.
Salon 809 reserves the right to ask a parent/guardian to remove a child from the service area if their behavior is unsafe or disruptive to the salon environment.
9.2 Minors Ages 11–17
Minors ages 11–17 are welcome to receive services; however, Salon 809 does not assume responsibility for supervising them before, during, or after their appointment.
Parents or guardians are responsible for verbally confirming and approving the specific service to be performed on a minor prior to the start of any chemical, color, or corrective service. Salon 809 recommends parents remain present or reachable during these services should any changes to the plan be needed.
For appointments scheduled near closing time, a parent or guardian must be present in the salon or return before the service is completed so that the minor is not left waiting after hours.
Parents/guardians may choose to leave the salon during the service; however, it is their responsibility to:
Communicate the desired style, instructions, and expectations to the stylist before leaving, and
Return on time for pickup at the end of the service.
9.3 Responsibility for Minors
Salon 809 staff are not responsible for supervising minors before, during, or after services. Our team’s primary responsibility is to safely perform salon services.
Once a minor’s service is completed, they must immediately be under the direct supervision of their parent, guardian, or designated responsible adult.
Parents/guardians must arrive on time for pickup. Repeated late pickups may affect the minor’s ability to book future appointments or may result in a requirement that a parent/guardian remain on-site during services.
9.4 Maryland Child Safety Laws (Important Notice)
Under Maryland law, young children may not be left unattended in buildings or vehicles without appropriate supervision:
Maryland Family Law § 5-801 prohibits leaving a child under 8 years old unattended and confined in a dwelling, building, enclosure, or motor vehicle out of the caretaker’s sight, unless a reliable person at least 13 years old is left to supervise the child.
What this means for Salon 809:
Parents and guardians remain legally responsible for supervising their children while in our salon and ensuring that any younger children are not left alone or dropped off without an appropriate supervising adult.
If a child appears to be left unattended or in an unsafe situation, Salon 809 may attempt to contact the parent/guardian and, if necessary, take further steps to protect the child’s safety in line with applicable law (for example, contacting the emergency contact or appropriate authorities).
By booking an appointment for a minor at Salon 809, parents and guardians acknowledge and agree to follow this Minor Child Safety Policy and to remain fully responsible for the supervision and conduct of their children while on the premises.
10. Refund, Redo, and Product Return Policy
10.1 Service Refunds
All services at Salon 809 are performed by licensed professionals and require reserved time and resources.
Because of the nature of salon services, we do not offer refunds on completed services. If you are not satisfied with your result, please refer to our 24-Hour Redo Policy (Section 5), which allows you to request adjustments within 24 hours of your original service time.
10.2 Retail Product & Hair Extension Returns
For safety, hygiene, and quality-control reasons, many professional salons treat hair extensions and opened beauty products as final sale items, and do not accept returns once the product has left the premises or packaging has been opened.
Salon 809 follows this standard:
No returns or refunds are offered on:
- Hair extensions and hair bundles
- Wigs or hairpieces
- Hair products and treatments
- Any other retail items, once purchased and removed from the salon
Once hair or products have left the salon, they cannot be resold or reused for sanitary and quality-control reasons.
We strongly encourage all clients to review and confirm their selections before completing a purchase. Our team is happy to help you choose the right product, color, or hair type before you buy.
Defective or Incorrect Items:
If you believe a retail product or hair item is defective or incorrect at the time of purchase, please notify us immediately—ideally before leaving the salon or as soon as reasonably possible after purchase.
We may inspect the item and, at management’s discretion, offer an exchange or store credit where appropriate.
This inspection process helps us maintain product quality and ensures that items have not been used, altered, or damaged after purchase.
Nothing in this policy is intended to override any rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection laws.
11. Discount & Promotions Policy
Salon 809 occasionally offers special promotions and discounts as a courtesy to our guests. To keep these offers clear and fair, the following rules apply:
11.1 App-Based & Pre-Booked Promotions
Certain promotions and discounts are available only to clients who schedule their appointments at least 12 hours in advance using the Salon 809 Mobile App.
Walk-ins and appointments made outside of the qualifying promotion rules do not qualify for those specific offers.
11.2 Packages, Memberships, and Double-Discounts
Clients redeeming package benefits or membership benefits do not qualify for additional discounts on the same service.
Promotions cannot be combined. Only one discount or offer may be used per service, unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing by Salon 809.
11.3 Exclusions & High-Demand Periods
Discounts may not apply to all services (for example, certain extension or specialty color services) and may exclude products, deposits, or previously discounted services.
Salon 809 reserves the right to suspend or discontinue discounts during holidays, peak periods, or special events, and to limit availability of promotional pricing based on demand.
11.4 Changes & Eligibility
All promotions and discounts are subject to change or cancellation at any time without prior notice.
Eligibility for any promotion is determined solely by Salon 809 management, and all decisions are final.
12. Memberships, Packages & Client Profile Photos
For all memberships and package-based services, Salon 809 requires a client profile photo to be linked to the account.
The profile photo is used only to verify identity and ensure that memberships and packages are redeemed solely by the client who purchased them.
Memberships and packages are non-transferable and may only be used by the named client on the account. They may not be shared, sold, or used by friends or family members.
By purchasing a membership or package, you agree to have your profile photo stored in your client file for verification purposes in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.
13. Non-Transferable Deposits & Booking Names
To protect both our clients and our schedule, we have clear rules on how deposits are applied and who they belong to.
13.1 Bookings Must Match the Person Being Serviced
Appointments must be booked under the name of the individual receiving the service.
This ensures we have the correct client history, consultation notes, and contact information for confirmations and reminders.
13.2 Deposits Belong to One Client Only
All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Deposits are strictly applied to the client under whom the appointment was booked and may not be transferred to:
- Another person
Another client profile
A third-party or resale arrangement
Deposits are applied toward the service total for that specific client, in line with our Deposits & Cancellation Policy.
13.3 Incorrect Names & Forfeiture
Booking an appointment and paying a deposit under an incorrect name or another person’s name may:
Cause confusion in our booking system, and
Result in forfeiture of the deposit if we are unable to correctly match or verify the client.
In these cases, a new deposit may be required to secure the appointment under the correct client name.
13.4 No Transfer Between Services Without Approval
Deposits are generally tied to the type of service (for example, hair extensions or specific color services).
Requests to move a deposit from one service type to another are handled case-by-case at management’s discretion and must still follow our 48-hour and 24-hour cancellation rules.
14. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of the State of Maryland. This applies uniformly across all Salon 809 locations (Bowie, Hyattsville, and Waldorf, MD).
15. Contact Information
Salon 809 operates the following locations, each with its own dedicated phone line for scheduling, cancellations, and inquiries:
Bowie, MD — (301) 383-1390
Hyattsville, MD — (301) 316-9488
Waldorf, MD — (301) 310-2727
Clients should contact the specific location where their appointment is booked for the fastest response.
16. Photo & Video Consent for Marketing
By receiving services at Salon 809, clients agree that photos and videos (including before-and-after images, styling process content, and general salon content) may be taken and used for marketing purposes, including social media, the salon website, and promotional materials, unless the client specifically opts out.
Clients who do not wish to have their photo or video used for marketing purposes may notify their stylist or front desk staff at any time, and Salon 809 will honor this request going forward.
This consent does not apply to profile photos used for membership or package verification, which are governed separately under Section 12.
17. Changes to These Terms
Salon 809 reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time, without prior notice. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the most current version of these terms.
